Kabul, Afghanistan – June 2025 — Following a recent meeting with the Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Afghan Guest Tourist & Travel Agency is pleased to issue an important clarification regarding the current process for obtaining tourist visas for Afghanistan.
Can you get a Tourist Visa on arrival in Afghanistan?
The short answer is No. However, keep reading because we have some great news for travellers living in countries without any Afghan embassy or consulate, including USA and UK tourists..
For travellers residing in countries where there is no Afghanistan embassy or consulate mission, Afghan Guest can directly facilitate the visa process through the Afghanistan Government Tourism Office. Once approved, the tourist visa will be issued and stamped upon arrival at Kabul International Airport or other designated entry points. Please note this can take from 2 up to 10 working days so we advise you to plan ahead and contact the Afghan Guest support team regarding your visa queries.
Travellers with Access to an Afghan Embassy
For guests living in countries where an official Afghanistan embassy or consulate exists, it is required that travellers visit their nearest diplomatic mission to obtain the tourist visa, which will be stamped into their passport prior to travel.
Please note: Tourist visas will not be issued upon arrival unless the proper process has been followed through Afghan Guest for eligible travellers, or through the appropriate embassy for residents of countries with Afghanistan diplomatic missions.
How does Afghan Guest help?

The Letter of Invitation and visa processing support are provided free of charge for all guests who book hotel room accommodations or guided tours through Afghan Guest. Without the Letter of Invitation, a foreign tourist visa cannot be issued.
